When the devil laughs
04:04
|
|
||
I'll walk everywhere I go
Let nature be our killer
I'll be victim, you be dagger
-and we'll dance until the blood dries up.
So that when you run away
I'll bear the wounds of a martyr
Who intends only to be
Swept away into some gutter where I'll wilt and drift asunder.
When the devil laughs I'll laugh harder.
I'll walk everywhere I go
Because I don't intend to run.
I'll accept every earthly
and unholy power I may face
upon the hour of my death
My gait it will not slow
For I'll be tasting with salted tongue
Disappointments unseasoned flavors.
Yes I will suck, and I will savor every one.
When the devil laughs I'll laugh harder.

All of my numb fingertips
Tingled with new nerves.
I felt the spring unfurling petals in her sight.
All of my thoughts vanished in her eclipse.
There was no sadness in the world.
I felt the frost of every heart gone cold
flood the carpet underfoot,
and as we moved around the room
the water splashed over our shoes.
No one was mad about the flood
no, no one was mad about it.
We all had some fun and we got drunk
then we splashed around in it.

Giantess

Born of ice!
She rises up from the land of giants.
A human sacrifice; Mjollnir falls.
Her skull is split,
Monsters fill the sea.

When I saw the light in your eyes
Flash like a flare from the face of your new man
I barely noticed he untied my veins
and slipped that ring right onto your hand.
You turned gold, I was green;
my copper tarnished, my tongue seemed bland.
I poured a drink for both of my hands.
How they shivered and they shook like two little leaves
growing out of my heavy winter coat.
I am reminded of a picture on a beach
I was a baby with a mouth full of sand.
I was scared and I was angry
Concern was visible in my hands.
How they shivered and they shook like two little leaves
growing out of my little yellow coat.

little cool and a little weird – in a good way" and "very story-telling".
Sometimes mellow and bittersweet; a songbird at your window sill and at other times a thunderous full-throated roar of emotive stomping and hollering like a wild preacher of the end-times!
