about

The deer comes across a Tlingit shaman who is staring at him. They stare at each other until they understand that both are distressed. The shaman takes an animal form and the two speak. He explains that he is afraid because it seems as though a witch had cursed his tribe for the men could go and hunt and fish for days at a time but never return anything. The forest and the sea had neglected them. The deer says he knows of witched for he too thought he were under the spell of wicked origin his witch though lived in his brain

He followed the shaman back to their village where he saw a grandmother teaching the youngest (or who seemed the youngest as they were all so scant and frail) of creatures she called 'Kushtakas' or land-otter-people a nasty beast that made you drowsy when you saw it and warned them that if they weren't careful or went out too late the very clever Kushtaka would trick the boys into becoming Kushtakas as well. Their most useful trick is by taking on the form of missing elders in the tribe. Things indeed, seemed dire.

lyrics

Grandma says, "Watch out,
Oh sweet princes!
For there are wolves about.
Oh, and witches with wide and open mouths
that swim this river
with reasons the same as ours."
And you best believe her
For I have seen the hounds
and heard the song
of lips curled-up and round!

I've walked this forest
I know these paths like my hand,
And I've seen the people
Wander out into the water from the sand!

Away they sing,
Away they sank.

His Music has been described and "a little cool and a little weird – in a good way" and "very story-telling".
Sometimes mellow and bittersweet; a songbird at your window sill and at other times a thunderous full-throated roar of emotive stomping and hollering like a wild preacher of the end-times!
